Jani-Matti Salo (b. 1984) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Helsinki, Finland, specializing in new media art, public art, and scenography. His work often explores collective practices, dramaturgy, and shared authorship with non-human entities. Salo holds a Master of Arts (2015) from the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Programme of Lighting Design and a Bachelor of Culture and Arts (2009) from the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, School of Art and Media. Since 2015, Salo has collaborated with Mark Niskanen as part of the artist duo Niskanen & Salo. Their works have been exhibited at renowned institutions such as the HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Helsinki Biennale, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Forum Box Gallery, and Helsinki Festival, as well as internationally at venues like Mana Contemporary, Grand Rapids Art Museum, and Brooklyn Bridge Park in the United States.
